Dear Gallatin R-V Parents,
I wanted to update you on our plans for viewing the upcoming solar eclipse. I have managed to locate ( Thanks to Ms. Youtsey) approximately 200 pairs of safety glasses specifically designed for solar eclipse viewing. These glasses meet the necessary safety standards and will allow our students to observe this unique celestial event safely.
For those who are interested, we will distribute these safety glasses between the middle school and high school buildings. The elementary school is fully equipped with the appropriate safety glasses. This will ensure that everyone who wishes to participate can do so while adhering to safety guidelines.
If, however, you do not wish for your child to participate in the solar eclipse viewing event, please contact the front office of your child's building. We respect your decision and will ensure that alternative arrangements are made for your child during this time.
We understand the significance of this event and believe it presents a valuable educational opportunity for our students. Rest assured that we will prioritize safety throughout the viewing experience.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us. Thank you for your support as we navigate this exciting event together.
Thanks,
Dr. Collins

Dear Gallatin R-V Parents,
I apologize in advance for the late communication. I wanted to inform you that due to the limited availability of the appropriate number of safety glasses, we will not be conducting any outdoor observation activities for the solar eclipse tomorrow. However, our students will be allowed to participate virtually using the NASA livestream with commentary on YouTube.
We do feel that the solar eclipse is a unique and important event, but we err on the side of caution by ensuring that all viewing of the sun is done using approved safety glasses.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.
Thank you for your understanding.
Dr. Collins

Gallatin R-V Schools WILL be in session today Wednesday, January, 24, 2024. School buses will run on hard (paved) surfaces only until further notice.

Dear Bulldogs,
We anticipate holding our regular session tomorrow, Wednesday, January 24, 2024. We hope that the temperature stays above freezing, and we only experience rain in our area tonight. However, we are aware that weather conditions may change overnight. In such a case, we will make a decision about school operations.
Until further notice, our school buses will travel on hard (paved) surfaces only. Bus drivers will contact families residing in impassable locations today to establish a safe plan for student travel.
Given the unpredictable nature of the weather forecast, we will actively monitor the situation and provide updates as it evolves. Keep an eye on your email, text alerts, and district social media pages for any further instructions or developments regarding our operations. The safety of our staff and students remains our top priority.
Stay safe,
Dr. Collins

The Gallatin R-V School District will not be in session today Tuesday, January 23, 2024 due to the current road conditions. This will not be an AMI day.

Dear Gallatin R-V Parents and Guardians,
We are closely monitoring the anticipated freezing rain forecasted for our area overnight and into Tuesday morning. Unfortunately, a decision regarding any potential impact on school operations cannot be made tonight. We will assess the road conditions early in the morning to determine if any adjustments to the school schedule are necessary. Presently, our plan is to proceed with school as normally scheduled. As always, your patience is appreciated as we navigate this winter season.
Have a great night,
Dr. Collins

Gallatin R-V Schools will be in session as regularly scheduled today Monday, January, 22, 2024.
